I attended the Children's Health Defense second annual conference which was held in Savannah, GA from November 2nd through November 5th.
Most of my time was spent doing volunteer work. Nonetheless, I still had a lot of fun! I stayed at the Westin Hotel which was right next to the Savannah Convention Center. All of the other hotels were across the river and people had to take the ferry to go back and forth to reach the Convention Center. The hotel was beautiful and the service was first-rate.
The only downside to the Westin Hotel was the food, the portions were very small and tasted so bad that I could not finish my meals. This happened twice. On the bright side, when I finally made it across the river to the restaurants on the other side, the food was excellent! I was able to venture to the famous River Street where all the action is. I went with world-famous attorney Sujata Gibson as well as a brilliant legal researcher named Kathryn.
We ate at a seafood restaurant called The Shrimp Factory. The food was great. We had a fantastic time laughing and discussing some of the serious issues of the day. Later we walked along River Street which was great! There were restaurants everywhere as well as all types of gift shops and other things including a ghost bus tour. There were also several outdoor bands playing and people were dancing and having fun. With the river and bright lights everywhere, and the music, I did not want to leave!
One of the things I really enjoy about these conferences is that I get to see people whom I have not seen in a long time. In many cases, I meet people in person for the first time who had only seen on Zoom call meetings. Everyone is so appreciative of being around like-minded people doing the hard work to save others. I was also surprised to meet a number of people who watch my Substack videos and really enjoy them.
The hotel also had a really nice candlelit bar with live music. Several of us would gather there to have a drink and some food and just talk, which was a lot of fun. On my last day there I also had some time to do some swimming in the hotel’s outdoor pool which was very lovely. It was also a saltwater pool which is far better than pools filled with chlorine.
The award ceremony for Robert F. Kennedy Jr was outstanding! They played a video of some of his many accomplishments which was literally breathtaking. I'm always amazed at how many different things he is able to juggle and do so very effectively.
Of course, there were lots of brilliant speakers and other activities. Please visit the Children's Health Defense website which will soon share some of the highlights.
